MONROE — The Badger Conference released its swim awards for both boys and girls swimming on Thursday, March 7. Monroe-New Glarus co-head coaches Haley Neuenschwander and Rachel Root were named Coaches of the Year in the Badger Small, while sophomore Megan Champman was named Swimmer of the Year.
With Neuenschwander and Root at the helm, MNG was undefeated in conference duals, including an 87-83 win over eight-time defending Division 2 state champions Edgewood. The Crusaders won the conference title, though, with the better performance in the conference meet.
Sophomore Megan Chapman was named the Badger Small female co-Swimmer of the Year, sharing the honor with Stoughton’s Cheyenne Borroughs. Chapman qualified for the WIAA Divsion 1 state swim meet in two individual events and two relays.
The Badger Large girls coach was Chris Tatsuguchi of Monona Grove, and the Swimmer of the Year was Alyse Block of Oregon.
The boys Coaches of the Year were Justin Sawran of Oregon (Large) and Justin Harrington of McFarland (Small).
The male Swimmers of the Year were Spencer Stluka of Oregon (Large) and Gavin Reiser of Stoughton (Small).
