MADISON — The Cheesemakers boys track team finished eighth at the Madison West Relays April 2. There were 26 teams competing in the indoor meet.
In the 55-meter hurdles, Monroe’s Jason Carpenter took first place with a time of 7.70 seconds — 4/100ths of a second ahead of Madison West’s Casey Peterson. Both runners are the No. 1 ranked sprinters in the state in their division — Carpenter in D2 and Peterson in D1.
Lucas Flom, Lucas Sathoff, Egor Sereda and JT Seagreaves team together in the 800-meter relay to take second (1:33.28), finishing 3/10ths of a second off the championship pace. Seagreaves was fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.27).
Charlie Wiegel set a personal record in the high jump at 5-feet, 10-inches. In the 400, Jakar Broitzman finished seventh with a time of 54.62 seconds.
Broitzman, Flom, Ben Gatdula and Brayden Mazahreh were eighth in the 400-relay (46.62). Caden Blum, Carpenter, Broitzman and Flom finished 11th in the 1,600-relay (3:43.04).
Monroe’s 3,200-meter relay team of Jared Batz, Zander Slack, Wyatt Stevenson and Anthony Wels finished 19th (9:32.69). Wels ran the 1,600 in 5:14.83, the 18th best time of the day.
On the girls side, Monroe was 21st out of 26 teams.
Aleigh Zettle was sixth in the 200-meter dash (27.47), while Bre Lambert finished seventh in the 400 (1:05.34). Jadyn Elgin was seventh in the 3,200-meter run (12:19.66).
The 1,600-meter relay team of Zettle, Lambert, Lauren Coppes and Taylor Jacobson finished 10th (4:29.91), while the 3,200-relay team of Elgin, Alyssa Roelli, Ximena Miranda and Jenna Brower finished 13th (11:02.00). Roelli was 18th in the 1,600 (6:16.03).
Abby Matley set a PR in the high jump at 4-feet, 6-inches. Zettle was eighth in the pole vault (8-6).
