DARLINGTON — The SWAL Conference released its All-Conference teams, where Kylie Butler and Sophie Wiegel received Honorable Mention recognition.
Both players made significant contributions to the offense and defense in the pitcher’s circle. Wiegel was the Redbirds’ No. 1 pitcher, throwing 80 of 120 2/3 innings. She posted a 1-18 record with an 8.38 ERA. At the plate, she led the team in runs scored (9) and RBIs (7). She also tallied 18 hits and six walks for a .310 batting average.
Butler pitched 19 2/3 innings, recording Darlington’s second win. She gave up 23 earned runs for a team-best 8.19 ERA. In the two-hole, Butler stole a team-high nine bases, tallied 15 hits with two doubles, and hit for .273.
Darlington finished 0-14 in the SWAL and 2-19 overall. The team’s two wins came against Monticello-New Glarus 2-1 in eight innings and Argyle 9-3.
Boscobel’s Gretta Grassel was named Player of the Year, and Cuba City’s Megan Rojemann was named Coach of the Year.
