Brodhead boys, girls score emphatic Ws

BRODHEAD — The Cardinals walloped the Comets 74-30 in a nonconference boys basketball game Dec. 10. 

Connor Green hit five 3-pointers for Brodhead, leading his team with 15 points. Owen Leifker had 14 points, and Brady Malkow finished with 8. Clay Hulbert led Albany with 9 points.

Brodhead led early and held a 45-19 advantage at the half.


Lodi 67, New Glarus 56

LODI — The Knights let a 5-point halftime lead disappear in the second half as the host Blue Devils won a Capitol Conference cross-over game Dec. 11.

Carter Siegenthaler led New Glarus with 18 points, while Dain Walter had 13. Trey Traeder paced Lodi with 20 points.

In other area boys basketball action, Darlington rolled Boscobel Dec. 11 by 40 points, 72-32. 


Girls Basketball

Brodhead 62, Belleville 44

BRODHEAD — The Cardinals jumped out to a big 36-17 lead at halftime and held on from there in their nonconference win over the Wildcats Dec. 11.

Abbie Dix led the way for Brodhead with 23 points, while teammate Kiarra Moe had 14 and Madisyn Kail added 9. 

Ava Foley led Belleville with 10 points and Mickey Stampfli finished with 9.


New Glarus 56, Cambridge 35

NEW GLARUS — Trailing 14-8 after seven minutes of play, the Glarner Knights sprung off a 14-0 run to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. New Glarus would lead 32-27 at halftime, then hold Cambridge to just eight points in the entire second half.

Jaylynn Benson scored a game-high 25 points for New Glarus, which had 10 players score in the contest. Lily Nommensen finished with 8 points for New Glarus, and Lindsey Schadewalt added 7. 

Maya Holzhueter led Cambridge with 12 points.

In other area girls basketball scores, Darlington picked up its first win of the season on Dec. 12, defeating Southwestern 53-46. On Dec. 10, Monticello used a big first half to topple Johnson Creek on the road, 59-43.
