MONROE — The WIAA released the boys basketball playoff brackets on Feb. 20.

In Division 2, Monroe (18-5) was given the No. 3 seed behind 2-seed Oregon (19-4) and top-seeded DeForest (19-4). Monroe and Oregon split the season series, with Monroe finishing a game better in the Badger West standings to close out the regular season. DeForest defeated Monroe both times the two teams played — both of which were at DeForest.

Nonetheless, the 3-seed gives the Cheesemakers a first-round bye in the postseason and will host either No. 1 Baraboo (5-17) or No. 6 Sauk Prairie (11-12) on March 4 in the regional semifinals. Should Monroe move on, the Cheesemakers would either travel to Oregon or host either Portage (11-11) or Monona Grove (5-18) for the regional championship March. 5. Monroe’s final regular season game is the Badger West Playoff against Portage Feb. 25.

In Division 4, Darlington (17-5) earned the No. 3 seed in its subsectional and will face the winner of Pardeeville (15-8) or Poynette (3-19) in the second round. Brodhead (16-6), leading the Rock Valley Conference, was seeded sixth and will host Parkview (8-14) in the first round on March 1, with the winner traveling to Marshall (17-6).

On the other side of the subsectional, Belleville (18-5) earned the No. 1 seed and will host the winner of Cambridge (10-13) and Wisconsin Heights (11-10). New Glarus (13-9) hosts Waterloo (3-19) in the first round on March 1 with the regional semifinal to be played three days later at Deerfield (17-5).

In Division 5, Six Rivers East champion Monticello (13-9) is the No. 6 seed and will host Rio (5-18) in the first round. The winner will play either 14-seed Albany (2-20) or 3-seed University Lake/Trinity Academy (13-5).

Black Hawk (10-13) received an 8-seed and will host Barneveld (9-13) in Round 1, with the winner moving on to play at top-seeded Faith Christian (17-6) in Williams Bay. Argyle (3-20) is the 13-seed and will be at Madison Abundant Life/St. Ambrose (13-8) in the first round.

On the other side of the sectional bracket, 10-seed Pecatonica (9-13) will be at Burlington Catholic Central (3-20) in the first round, with 15-seed Juda (1-21) playing at 2-seed Cambria-Friesland (16-7).
