SOUTH WAYNE — Black Hawk High School announced the hiring of two new varsity coaches and an athletic director for the 2023-24 sports season.

Eric Erickson, the current track and field head coach, will be taking over for Roger Trame as the athletic director. Erickson recently sent three individuals and one relay team to the WIAA State Track and Field meet in La Crosse.

Mike Flanagan, Jr., son of Mike Flanagan, who coached the Black Hawk girls basketball team to seven state tournament appearances, will head the boys basketball team in place of Trent Wyssbrod. Wyssbrod coached the Warriors for three years, where he compiled a 29-46 record.

Steve Herbst, former assistant coach to Wyssbrod, will coach the girls basketball team in place of Cora Lierman. Lierman served as the replacement to Mike Flanagan and compiled a 27-22 record in her two years as head coach.
