SOUTH WAYNE — Belmont made 18 of 33 chances at the free-throw line in a 42-36 Six Rivers Conference crossover victory over Black Hawk on Thursday, Dec. 28.
“We lost a close one. It was a very physical game,” Black Hawk head coach Steve Herbst said. “They deserved the win. We had a rough game shooting.”
The Warriors shot 14-for-42 from the field and 1-for-11 from beyond the arc. Maddy Lange led with 15 points. Maddy Place also finished in double figures with 11 points. Kendra Haldiman grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
NEW GLARUS 75, BARABOO 47
DODGEVILLE — The Knights, ranked No. 8 in Division 4, capped their Dodger Classic run with a win over Division 2 Baraboo on Thursday, Dec. 28.
Elle Lancaster scored a career-high 21 points, going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line with five 3-pointers. She was two rebounds away from a double-double. Lindsey Schadewalt paced the offense with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Emma Martinson led defensively with 12 boards. She was two points from a double-double.
As a team, New Glarus shot 27-for-54 from the field and 11-for-17 from beyond the arc.

HAZEL GREEN — The No. 5 Orioles gave up just 13 first-half points in a nonconference win on Thursday, Dec. 28.
Kylie Butler dropped a career-high 30 points in the affair. Anna Tisch scored 16 points, going 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. Brooke Wellnitz also finished in double figures with 15 points.

In local boys basketball action, Juda fell to Princeton-Green Lake 69-38 in the Dodgeland Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 28.
Black Hawk dropped a pair of games in the Elkhart Lake Tournament — 67-39 to host Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah and 58-44 to Cambria-Friesland.
