JOHNSON CREEK — With the help of a 32-point second quarter, No. 3 Black Hawk-Warren eliminated No. 2 Johnson Creek 48-20 in a WIAA Division 7 Level 2 playoff game on Friday, Oct. 27.

“We said going into the game that what we lack in talent we need to make up for in physicality and we did,” BHW head coach Desmond Breadon said. “In all phases, we just tried to out-hit and out-hustle Johnson Creek.”

Outside of the Bluejays first play — a 68-yard touchdown run by Dylan Bedlow — the Warrior defense kept Johnson Creek in check with two interceptions, including a pick-6 by Bryce VanRaalte.

Offensively, quarterback Eli Schliem went 4-for-8 for 77 yards with a TD pass to Andrew Figi. On the ground, Lane Marty (20 att, 120 yds) and Owen Seffrood (18 att, 118 yds) accounted for 238 of BHW’s 438 total yards.

With the win, the Warriors advance to a Level 3 game against No. 2 Potosi-Cassville. The Chieftains beat the Warriors during the regular season 41-20 to earn the Six Rivers Conference title.

“The rematch with Potosi-Cassville will be a big one, and we’re going to bring our A game and possibly get some luck along the way,” Breadon said. “I feel good about the rematch and we look forward to another shot at them.”
