Aird, Seffrood, McIntyre champions at Lancaster

Marcus McIntyre won the 145-pound bracket at the Lancaster Invite on Saturday, Jan. 7 with two pins, a tech fall and major decision.

LANCASTER — Darlington-Black Hawk had two individual champions en route to its third-place finish (181 points) at the Lancaster Invite on Saturday, Jan. 7.

Ethan Aird (120) won each of his four rounds, three of them by pin and one by a 10-2 major decision. Owen Seffrood (138) went 3-0 in pool play with two pins and a bye. In bracket-play, he defeated Mason Oellerich with a pin in the third period. In the championship, Seffrood defeated Joe Lohmar of Brodead-Juda by a 7-2 decision.

The Warbirds had another four wrestlers take second: Eli Aird (113), Tye Crist (170), Ross Crist (195) and Bryan Lazaro (285).

Eli Aird lost just one match, a 7-5 decision to champion Alborz Dehnavi. Otherwise, he won in convincing fashion with two pins — one in one second, the other in 48 seconds — and a 4-2 decision. Tye Crist received two byes, going 2-1 in his other contests. He fell to champion Emmett Brooks in the second period. His two wins were first-period pins. 

Ross Crist pinned all three of his opponents in pool-play. In the finals, he pinned CJ Streuly of Brodhead-Juda in the second period. Ryan McCartney bested Ross Crist 4-3 in the championship. At heavyweight, Lazaro wrestled in just two matches, receiving two byes and winning one match by forfeit. He was 1-1 with a pin and fell to champion Porter Mandurano in 31 seconds.

Riley Mosley (220) finished third, while Maddox Goebel (182) and Eli Crist (152) took fourth.

Brodhead-Juda brought nine wrestlers and finished sixth with 128.5 points.

Marcus McIntyre (145) was the lone champion for the Cardinals, going 4-0 with two pins, one tech fall and an 11-1 major decision. Lohmar (138) was undefeated in pool-play with three pins. He pinned Nick Reddington in the finals to advance to the championship against Seffrood. Lohmar fell by a 7-2 decision.

Karson Miller (170) and Streuly (195) took third, while Emmitt Allen (220) finished fourth. The remaining wrestlers — James Wallin (132), Charlie Weis (160) and Clayton Elloitt (182) — claimed fifth.
