NEW GLARUS - The New Glarus-Monticello football team had 15 players named Capitol South All-Conference recently.
The Glarner Knights had eight first-team all-conference players led by senior Josh Kolasch who was the conference's offensive linemen of the year and defensive linemen of the year. Kolasch was first-team all-conference at both the offensive and defensive line. Kolasch was a unanimous selection as the defensive linemen of the year. Kolasch had 69 tackles including six tackles for loss and four sacks to lead the Knights' defense.
Senior Jim Chenoweth was the conference's offensive player of the year. Chenoweth garnered first-team all-conference honors as a running back, defensive back and specialist. Chenoweth rushed for 1,295 yards and scored 12 TDs. He averaged 129.5 yards per game and 6.9 yards per carry.
New Glarus finished the season 5-5 and won the Capitol South Conference championship with a 4-1 record. The other first-team all-conference players include A.J. Helbach (offensive line and defensive end) and Patrick Elzen (defensive back).
The second-team all-conference selections for the Knights included Tyler O'Connor (offensive linemen), Dristen Kriebs (inside linebacker), Elzen (running back) and Kyle Larson (kicker). The three honorable mention all-conference players for the Knights are Kelvin Johnson (outside linebacker), Forrest Havens (outside linebacker) and Jacob Larson (tight end).
