MONROE - Sophomore forward Maddie Kallgren was designated as the lone first-team all-conference representative of the Monroe girls soccer team in the recent selections for the Badger South Conference.
Kallgren is 20th in the state in goals scored (19) this season.
Garnering second-team accolades for the Cheesemakers was senior defender Allie Coplien, while senior forward Gabby Ludwig made a repeat appearance as Monroe's lone honorable mention selection.
Monroe finished the regular season with a 3-1 victory over Wisconsin Heights and won a close 1-0 match against Whitewater in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Cheesemakers (11-7) defeated No. 1 seed Evansville 2-1 to win a WIAA Division 3 regional championship. It's the first regional title in the history of the girls and boys soccer programs.
