MONROE - Two games, two blowouts so far this season for the Monroe High School girls soccer team.
Senior Maddie Kallgren scored three goals and had three assists to drive the Cheesemakers to an 8-0 victory over Wisconsin Heights on Friday at Honey Creek Park. That shutout follows the Cheesemakers' 7-1 win Tuesday over Sparta.
"I think everyone played very hard tonight," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "We have a very good group of committed players. And with the win on Tuesday, I think they were really fired up to have another win and score a lot of goals."
Kallgren scored the first goal of the first game on a penalty kick, and then assisted on goals by Morgan Seffrood and Emily Benzschawel before scoring the final goal of the first half unassisted.
The Cheesemakers also scored four goals in the second half, including two by Brynn Ritschard. Ritschard's goals were assisted by Payton Noble and Kallgren. Seffrood scored again and Kallgren added the final goal on an assist by Reily Pond.
"It's nice to get a lot of people scoring and assisting and working well together like that," O'Neill said.
