LA CROSSE - Injuries and illness plagued the Monroe wrestling team's aspirations at the Bi-State Classic tournament at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27-28.

Monroe coach Tom Witt was only able to wrestle five of his teams' members, as a multitude of problems prevented a full roster from fully competing. One of the members who was out due to injury was heavyweight Brett Zimmerman.

"Brett (Zimmerman) was out with a back injury that he sustained earlier in the week," Witt said. "Going into this tournament he was ranked third, and I felt he would have fared well."
