MONROE - Jim Ingold and Scott Mosher have been named the head coaches of the Monroe High School boys and girls cross country teams.

Monroe High School Activities Director Jeff Newcomer made the announcement in a news release on Thursday.

Ingold retired this spring after 34 years as a physical education teacher, including 25 years at Parkside Elementary School. Ingold has 22 years of coaching experience while Mosher has 11 years. Ingold has two sons, Parker and Drake, on the boys cross country team.

"Both coaches will be a great addition to the department, together they have what it takes to build the program to the top of the conference year in and year out," Newcomer said.

Ingold and Mosher replace Dave Hirsbrunner, who coached both the boys and girls teams. Hirsbrunner resigned as athletic director and also from his teaching and coaching positions at the end of November after being placed on administrative leave.

Ingold, a graduate of MHS, competed collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in track and field and cross country. Ingold was the Monroe girls cross country coach from 1994 to 2005, when he led the Cheesemakers to six state tournament appearances in Division 1 and to seven consecutive Badger Conference championships.

Mosher, also a graduate of MHS, started in coaching as an assistant in cross country and track and field at Fond du Lac High School (2005-12).

Mosher moved back to his hometown of Monroe in 2012 and volunteered his time to the Cheesemakers cross country and track and field programs. Mosher was named the Cheesemakers head boys track and field coach over the winter.
