MONROE - The Monroe Youth Hockey Association is gearing up for another season with online registration.
Online hockey registration is available at www.monroeyouthhockey.com for all new and returning members.
Monroe Youth Hockey offers hockey from beginners through high school. MYHA also offers U14 and U10 girls only hockey teams. Free equipment use is available for first time players. The Avalanche team will take part in their second year of WIAA high school hockey. Schools in the co-op include Albany, Beloit Turner, Darlington, Freeport, Lena-Winslow, Monroe, Parkview and Pecatonica. MYHA will host a few upcoming public events. The Odyssey 5K race, the one mile walk/fun run and the Taste of SLICE is set for Saturday, Sept. 7 at the SLICE arena, 1632 4th Ave. West. Races begin at 11 a.m. Register for the 5K race, walk/fun run, and Taste of SLICE at register.itsracetime.com/Register/?event=17301. Pre-register by Saturday, Aug. 24 to guarantee a T-shirt and reduced entry fee. Following the race, the Taste of SLICE, all you can eat/drink samplings, will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Many local restaurants, breweries, wineries, and cheesemakers will be present. There will be kids' games and a bounce house for younger participants. Live music by Universe is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Klondike Cheese Company is sponsoring the events. On Saturday, Oct. 5, MYHA, along with Monroe Main Street, will host the 22nd annual chili cook-off in Monroe. Those who attend can taste and judge many chili and salsa samples from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Music, beer garden, crafts and food vendors are planned.
