BLANCHARDVILLE - The Comets were just what the Vikings ordered Friday night.
Albany gave Six Rivers East-leading Pecatonica all it could handle on the road, taking a 35-34 lead into the final quarter when Vikings junior Brittany Kent scored eight of her 29 points to bring Pec back for a 54-47 victory.
Vikings head coach Josh Tarrell - who has Pecatonica at 14-1 and ranked third in the most recent Division 4 AP Polls - felt this was a good wake-up call for his squad that has been atop the conference standings all year.
"It was exactly what we needed," Tarrell said. "Luckily we pulled it out in the end."
The Comets (6-7, 4-5 overall) got scoring from all over the place with Amy Golz with 13 points and fellow senior Megan Schulz added 12 in the loss.
Black Hawk 48
Argyle 42
The Orioles just couldn't keep the ball out of Black Hawk's hands enough as Paige Butler's seven fourth-quarter points helped propel the Warriors down the stretch in a 48-42 home victory.
"They make it a low possession game and every time you get the ball you've got to capitalize," Black Hawk head coach Mike Flanagan said.
Kim Wellnitz had a game-high 14 points - five in the fourth quarter - for Black Hawk. Amber Thomas led Argyle with 13 - including three 3-pointers - in the loss.

Things are never easy for Monticello.
Barneveld pressed and attacked the Ponies defensively - holding Monticello to five field-goal attempts in the first half - causing 17 first-half turnovers en route to a 64-20 victory at the Ponies place.
The Eagles (10-4 overall, 6-2 Six Rivers East) drilled eight 3-pointers in the blowout and Brooke Allen scored a game-high 13 points. Kelly Mueller added 12 and Melissa Carmody and Whitney Johnson had 10 apiece.
The Ponies (1-13, 1-8) got 10 points from MacKenzie Hilliard.

Every Glarner Knight scored except for the starting point guard, who had 12 points three nights prior, in New Glarus' 63-32 drubbing over Capitol South Conference foe Waterloo at home Friday night.
"She's almost too unselfish sometimes," Braden Rindy said of his pass-first floor general.
