MILWAUKEE - Even a long trip to the Cream City couldn't keep the Green County Family YMCA's Gymnastic Gems from sparkling in their 2008 season debut.

Josie Eberle (32.3 points) and Ramsey Benkert (33.5) both brought back first-place all-around honors in the 5th Level of competition at the meet held at the Schroeder YMCA. Benkert put up top marks in the beam (8.2) and floor (9.15) exercises while Eberle's 7.9 in the bars and 8.8 in the vault were good for first place.

Gems veteran Chandra McGuire placed second in the 5th Level as well and Kate Kummer also finished second in the 8th Level. Jenny Knox took second in the prep-optional category after putting up firsts in the bars (8.7) and the vault (8.5). Veronica Andraski, another gems staple, took first with an 8.9 in the prep-optional bars event.

Back in the 8th Level, Elizabeth Knutson took first in the floor exercise with a 9.0. Maria Eberle dialed up back-to-back 8.8s in the floor and vault events in 7th Level competition.

In Level 5, Kelsey Beckwith took two second-place honors in the bars (8.2) and the vault (8.5). Bayley Dunlavey took first in the floor exercise, second in the beam and third in the bars for a third-place all-around effort. Sadie Swenson's fifth-place finish was made up a second-place honor in the floor, a fourth in the beam and sixth in the bars.

Amanda Melland took a fourth in the vault and fifth places in the bars and beam during Level 4 action.

A steady Jordan Hirsbrunner took fourth all-around in the Level 3 category with third-place honors in the bars, beam and floor while Casey Rielly had a fourth overall finish with a third in the vault and a fifth in the bars.
