BELOIT - The Rock County Fury girls co-op high school hockey team defeated the Cap City Cougars in a conference game 2-1 Tuesday.
The Cougars were first to score with a power-play goal in the first period by Amanda Bauer 11 minutes into the game.
The Fury countered, and at the 10:03 mark in the second period, Dani Heitsman fired one from the blue line into the net on a power play with Alyssa Knauf earning an assist to tie the game at 1-1.
With under six minutes left of the game, Maggie Henschler scored the game-winning power-play goal on passes from Abby Humphrey and Anika Einbeck.
McKaylie Buescher recorded 25 saves for the Fury, which improved to 8-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference. Cap City falls to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference.
Up next for the Fury is an away game at Viroqua (4-2, 2-0) at 3 p.m. Saturday.
