EVANSVILLE - Evansville-Albany senior running back Ryker Brown rushed for 85 yards on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns and Brennen Banks rushed for 106 yards and scored two touchdowns to lift the Blue Devils to a 49-19 win over Brodhead-Juda Friday.

With the win, Evansville-Albany (8-0, 6-0 Rock Valley North) clinched an outright conference title.

It marks the second time this year Evansville-Albany has beat Brodhead-Juda. The Blue Devils defeated the Cardinals 14-12 in Week 2.

"We are excited," Evansville-Albany coach Ron Grovesteen said of winning the conference title. "Brodhead-Juda is a tough team."

Evansville-Albany senior Nathan Redders had 100 rushing yards on 19 carries.

With an experienced team of players returning, Grovesteen didn't see the Blue Devils as a conference shoe-in.

"We don't expect anything around here," Grovesteen said. "We just try to improve every week. We were great in all three phases - special teams, defense and offense."

With Brodhead-Juda's loss to the Blue Devils, the Cardinals earned a four-way Rock Valley South Conference co-championship with Walworth Big Foot, Beloit Turner and Clinton.

Brodhead-Juda junior quarterback Matt Schmitt completed three of seven passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Schmitt hooked up with senior Ned Slocum on a 69-yard TD pass and connected with Skyler Stuckey on a 64-yard TD pass. Slocum also had an 80-yard TD run. The Blue Devils rushed for 325 yards compared to 185 yards on the ground by the Cardinals.

New Glarus-Mont., 38, Cambridge 19

NEW GLARUS - With New Glarus-Monticello needing one more win to become playoff eligible, senior running back Trey Taylor did his part to clinch a postseason berth, scoring three touchdowns to power the Glarner Knights to a 38-19 win over Cambridge Friday.

Taylor rushed for 220 yards on 22 carries and scored two touchdowns. Taylor had two interceptions and returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

"I'm just thrilld with the way the guys played tonight," New Glarus-Monticello coach Desie Breadon said. "They played up to their potential. They played fast and physical all night."

After losing their first three games, the Knights have won three straight to become playoff-eligible. New Glarus-Monticello (3-5, 3-1 Capitol South) is still in contention for a conference championship, but will need Marshall to lose next week to Cambridge and the Knights will have to beat Waterloo to earn a share of the title.

"If we take care of business and get some help from Cambridge, we can still share the conference title which is a good feeling," Breadon said.

Taylor rumbled for a 43-yard TD run on the first play of the second quarter. The Knights cashed in on a 16-play, 83-yard drive, culminating in Austin Schlueter's 1-yard TD plunge.

Taylor bolted for a 54-yard TD run at the end of the third quarter to give the Knights a 28-0 lead.

New Glarus-Monticello senior quarterback Gavin Binger scrambled and broke a tackle on a 43-yard TD run with 4:33 left in the fourth quarter to give the Knights a 35-6 lead. New Glarus-Monticello sophomore Bryce Eichelkraut booted a 40-yard field goal in the second half.

Pecatonica-Argyle 40, Cassville 0

CASSVILLE - Pecatonica-Argyle Riley Ostby had two touchdowns to help the Vikings roll to a 40-0 win over Cassville to clinch a Six Rivers Conference championship.

"It's definitely a good feeling to be in this position," Pecatonica-Argyle coach Larry Green said. "They deserve the conference championship."

Pecatonica-Argyle senior Brooks Chandler returned an interception for a touchdown and Ostby scored on a touchdown run on the Vikings' first offensive possession to extend the lead to 14-0.

"It was a great start," Green said. "That really got us motivated."

The Vikings (8-0, 7-0 Six Rivers) blocked a punt and senior Will Herman returned it for a touchdown.

Pecatonica-Argyle will wrap up the regular season at Shullsburg next week.

With both Darlington and Pecatonica-Argyle unbeaten, they are vying for No. 1 playoff seeds in Division 6.
