MONROE - The second of three summer tennis tournaments, the 40th annual City Doubles Tournament, sponsored by the Monroe Parks and Recreation Dept., will be July 16-17.
The tournament is open to anyone. Every team will be guaranteed two matches, with a consolation side in each breaker, according to Jim Bartholf, manager of the event for all 40 years.
The tournament will have a Men's Class A, the championship bracket; Men's Class B, for intermediate players; a Women's Open, for high school age and older; and a 14-and-under bracket for youth teams.
The entry fee is $20 per team for high school age and older, and $10 per team for 14-years and younger.
The 14-and-under and the Women's Open will start play at 8 a.m., Saturday, July 16, at Recreation Park in Monroe. The men's brackets will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Recreation Park. The tournament will conclude Sunday afternoon.
