ALBANY - Juda-Albany senior Tabatha Davis and freshman Sara Jordan combined to toss a no-hitter to lead the Panthers to a 20-0 five-inning win over Williams Bay-Faith Christian in the season opener, Monday, April 1.
Davis started at pitcher and pitched four shutout innings. She struck out seven and didn't issue a walk. Jordan pitched one shutout inning. She struck out two and walked two.
"Tabatha threw pretty well," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "You have to get accustomed to the weather. With Cheyenne Ambler's knee injury, we are looking for pitchers. This is Sara's first year pitching. I thought she pitched pretty well. She was always around the zone. I think she has really come a long ways."
Juda-Albany scored nine runs in the first inning and didn't look back. The Panthers had 14 total hits. Juda-Albany senior Morganne Goecks went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Freshman Alexis Goecks went 2-for-2. Tabatha Davis and freshman Riley Atkins each had doubles. The Panthers had a four-run third and a five-run fourth.
"We will be playing some freshmen this year so it's nice to get the feeling of a game and get the jitters out," Bill Davis said.
