Cards fall a few bullets short in loss

BRODHEAD - The Cardinals just didn't have enough ammunition for their shootout with the Trojans.

Beloit Turner used a 25-point fourth quarter to keep Brodhead at bay in the Trojans' 72-64 victory Friday night in Brodhead.

The Trojans' Aaron Jones led all scorers with 22 points, 16 in the decisive fourth quarter. Brodhead's scoring trio of Andy Swain (15), Ryan Miller (13) and Trenton Klein (10) wasn't enough down the stretch.

Beloit Turner's ability to get to the line 36 times - 25 of which they converted - was crucial in the victory. The Trojans were 16-for-22 in the final frame, nine makes coming from Jones.

The Cardinals hope to shake the loss off quickly as an opportunity to make amends for last year's postseason exit arrives Monday when Brodhead travels to Monroe.

The Cheesemakers are 11-0 on the season.
