EDGERTON - The Cardinals tried to rally against the Edgerton Crimson Tide in the seventh inning, but came up short, 8-7, in a Division 2 regional semifinal Tuesday.
For the sixth-seeded Cardinals, it was their sixth one-run loss of the season.
The Cardinals grabbed a 2-0 in the first inning, only to see the No. 2 seed Crimson Tide take a 3-2 lead in the second inning. Brodhead-Juda struck for three runs in the third inning to reclaim the lead, 5-3, but Edgerton got the lead back with three runs in the bottom of the third followed by two runs in the fourth to take an 8-5 lead.
The Cardinals scored a pair of runs in the seventh to make it 8-7, but were unable to tie and saw their season end at 4-16.
Senior Aaron Duecker and sophomore Tyler Malcook hit home runs while senior Billy Sangermano held Edgerton scoreless over the final 2 2/3 innings for the Cardinals. Edgerton advances to the regional final today.
Division 3
Wisconsin Heights 2, Darlington 1
MAZOMANIE - The Wisconsin Heights Vanguards got five hits, all doubles, and scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to edge the Darlington Redbirds, 2-1 in a Division 3 regional semifinal Tuesday.
Pitcher A.J. Donaldson gave up a run in the first inning, then held the No. 3 seeded Redbirds in check the rest of the way, recording 12 strikeouts.
Bryce Barsness had three of the Vanguards' five doubles. Junior Tyler Hardyman went 2-for-3 with a double for the Redbirds while senior Matt Keister pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
Darlington, winners of their first seven games of the season, closes out the year 13-9. Wisconsin Heights, the No. 2 seed, advances to the regional championship today against Orfordville Parkview.

New Glarus 5
ORFORDVILLE - The No. 1 seeded Vikings got seven runs over the first two innings and overcame six errors to top the No. 4 seed, New Glarus Glarner Knights, 9-5 in a regional semi-final Tuesday.
Senior Ryan Bright had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 and sophomore Evan Hauge went 3-for-4 as the Knights out hit the Vikings, 13-11.
Senior Nick Stuessy walked four and struck out four over six innings as New Glarus ends its season 8-14.
Parkview takes on Wisconsin Heights in the Division 3 regional championship today.
Division 4
Monticello 5, Albany 4
MONTICELLO - Senior Tyler Meier's two-out, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Tyler Ritschard and Lucas Kolasch to give the No. 2 seed Monticello Ponies a dramatic 5-4 win over third-seeded Albany in a Division 4 regional semifinal Tuesday.
Meier delivered the game-winner against Albany senior Bryce Hulbert, who came up with his own dramatic hit in the top half of the seventh inning.
Sophomore Cody Schultz started out the inning with a base hit off Monticello's Michael Elzen. After the next two batters were retired, the Ponies decided to intentionally walk Josh Peters, who had been 6-for-6 with six RBIs in his previous at-bats against Monticello. However, the strategy backfired when Hulbert blasted a three-run homer to give the Comets a 4-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh to set up Meier's heroics.
Albany ends the season 3-10 while Monticello improves to 10-9. The Ponies will travel to Burlington today to meet top-seed Catholic Central for the regional championship. It marks the fourth year in a row that the Ponies have faced the Hilltoppers in the playoffs.
Barneveld 12, Pecatonica 11
BARNEVELD - The fifth-seeded Vikings had a 9-1 lead in the fifth inning over the top-seeded Eagles, and an 11-6 lead going into the bottom of the seven inning, but the Eagles roared back with six runs in their final at-bat to overtake Pecatonica, 12-11 Tuesday.
Josh Kitelinger's two-out, bases-loaded walk on a 3-2 pitch drove in the winning run and sent the Eagles (19-2) into today's regional championship against Southwestern. After a strikeout to lead off the seventh inning, Barneveld got four walks, a hit batter, and three hits to produce six runs.
The Vikings roughed up Barneveld's ace Weston Peterson for 10 runs, highlighted by a six-run fourth inning with junior Tannar Johnson going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and sophomore Karson Feller going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.
"It was a tough way to lose, especially for our two seniors, Devin Jeglum and Chris Hendrickson" Pecatonica head coach Jim Strommen said. "Hopefully, the younger guys will learn from this."
Strommen completed his 30th season coaching baseball with a 424-152 overall record. The Vikings finished the season 14-12.
Catholic Central 10, Black Hawk 0
BURLINGTON - The No. 1 seeded Hilltoppers scored in every inning and held the No. 4 seed Warriors to just three hits on their way to a 10-0 win in five innings in a Division 4 regional semifinal Tuesday.
Freshman Michael Powers and sophomore Patrick Mahoney led off the second inning for the Warriors with back-to-back base hits, but Black Hawk couldn't mount a threat against the three-time state champion Hilltoppers.
Black Hawk closes the 2010 baseball season with a record of 3-14.
