DURAND - The Black Hawk boys basketball team had a balanced attack and rolled to a 65-50 win over Durand in a non-conference game Saturday.
Black Hawk (8-1, 5-1 Six Rivers East) has won four straight games with the only loss coming against Monticello Dec. 11. Black Hawk junior Seth Butler scored a team-high 14 points. However, he had plenty of help as three others scored in double digits including senior Coltin Piefer (12 points), senior Merik Meythaler (11) and junior Tyler Peterson (10).
"Right now we are playing good as a team," Black Hawk coach Corey Manlick said. "We are playing together as a team. The kids are buying into the team concept."
Durand led 17-14 after the first quarter. However, the Warriors outscored them 20-11 in the second quarter to take a six point lead at the half. The Warriors outscored Durand 21-22 in the second half.
Manlick isn't satisfied despite the strong start.
"I think we can still get better," he said. "We are having too many turnovers and we are giving up more points than I would like."
Black Hawk hosts Warren tonight and hosts a conference game against Juda on Thursday. The Warriors then play at fourth-ranked Cassville on Saturday.
