WISCONSIN DELLS - Darlington senior Naomi Black qualified for the state golf tournament after taking sixth place at the WIAA Division 2 Wisconsin Dells sectional on Monday.
Black shot an 86 at Trappers Turn to qualify for state for the second time in three years.
"It was her personal best for 18 holes," Darlington-Cuba City coach Gary Ringen said. "What a way to end her senior year, to qualify for the state tournament. It's just the climax to her four-year career."
Darlington-Cuba City senior Kayla Paquette took 21st carding a 96, and junior Sami Poss finished 45th with a 121.
The Redbirds went to the Dells on Sunday so the trio of sectional qualifiers could play a practice round. Ringen believes it paid off for Black who last qualified for state when she was a sophomore.
Black birdied No. 13 and No. 16.
"With the caliber of golfers here, it was a very tough course," Ringen said. "She really had her game under control. Kayla was just unbelievable."
Black will golf at the Division 2 state tournament on Monday, Oct. 8 at the Cherokee Course in Madison.
"She will be golfing with some of the best golfers in the state," Ringen said. "If she plays her game, anything can happen."
