BARNEVELD - Juda-Albany junior Nicki Becker tossed a two-hit shutout and hit a home run in the first inning to lead the Panthers softball team to a 12-0 five-inning win over Barneveld on Monday.
Becker's three-run home run in the first helped the Panthers take a 4-0 lead, and they cruised from then on.
"She (Becker) had a good approach up there," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "She waited for her pitch and got all of it."
The Panthers (4-1, 1-0 Six Rivers East) pounded out 12 hits. Senior Sara Jordan went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Both Becker and Sayde McDermott went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Junior Sami Detra was also 2-for-3.
"I was really happy with our offense," Davis said. "We still have to get our strikeouts down a little bit."
Becker pitched a complete game to get the win. She struck out 11 and walked one.
