Argyle tops New Glarus

ARGYLE - Carius Corbyn and Cam Treuthardt combined for five hits to lead the Argyle baseball team to a 12-7 win over New Glarus in a nonconference game on Monday.

Corbyn went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Treuthardt finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Argyle freshman Gavin Johnson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, and freshman Mason Wagge was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Argyle sophomore Jacob Ploessl had two RBI.

The Orioles broke the game open with a seven-run second inning highlighted by RBI singles by Treuthardt, Johnson and Ploessl.

Argyle's Mitch Flannery pitched three innings and gave up one earned run on four hits to get the win. He struck out four and walked five. Treuthardt pitched three innings in relief and gave up one earned run on three hits. He struck out six.

Senior Dylan Legnar went 2-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Glarner Knights at the plate. Hayden Latsch also was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.

The Knights used three pitchers. New Glarus junior Noah Zimmerman pitched 11⁄3 innings and gave up eight earned runs on four hits and took the loss. He struck out two and walked five. Senior John Chenoweth pitched 21⁄3 innings in relief and allowed one unearned run and struck out three.
