ARGYLE - Barneveld kept the pressure on Pecatonica to keep pace in the race for the conference title after the Eagles swept Argyle in a doubleheader Thursday.
Barneveld (12-1, 5-0 Six Rivers East) beat Argyle 4-1 in the first game and 9-5 in Game 2.
Barneveld's Weston Peterson pitched a complete game in the first game and struck out 13. He didn't allow an earned run and gave up four hits.
Argyle junior Nate Thomas took the loss going the distance for the Orioles in the first game. He gave up two earned runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked four. Thomas went 2-for-3 to lead the Orioles.
Argyle committed seven errors in the second game of the doubleheader. Argyle came back and tied the game at four in the fifth inning. In the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles broke the game open with five runs.
Thomas went 4-for-4 at the plate in the second game to lead the Orioles. Argyle senior Nick Martin pitched six innings and gave up three earned runs on seven hits. He struck out five and walked five.
Barneveld's Grant Bowe went the distance and gave up three earned runs on six hits. He struck out seven and walked seven. Cody Carmody went 2-for-3 and Brad Zander was 2-for-4 for the Eagles.

SOUTH WAYNE - The Pecatonica baseball team kept pace with Barneveld in the hunt for a Six Rivers Conference title by sweeping Black Hawk in a doubleheader.
The Vikings used a seven-run first en route to winning one of the games in Thursday's doubleheader. Pecatonica junior Taylor Berg went 3-for-3 at the plate and he earned the win pitching. Berg pitched three innings and he gave up three earned runs on two hits. He struck out two and walked one.
Pecatonica juniors Josh Hendrickson and Tannar Johnson each were 2-for-4.
Black Hawk sophomore Michael Walker went 2-for-3 and hit a home run, which is his second of the week. Walker took the loss on the mound. He pitched two innings and gave up eight earned runs on five hits. He struck out two and walked six.
Johnson pitched a complete game in the other game of the twin bill to get the win. Johnson gave up just one earned run on four hits. He struck out seven and walked two. Berg and sophomore Tanner Kleppe were both 2-for-3.

CLINTON - Cardinals starter Billy Sangermano allowed nine hits and nine walks in five innings, taking the loss on the mound for Brodhead-Juda Thursday.
Clinton scored three runs in the second and one run in the third and fourth innings.
Brodhead-Juda scored two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth, but collected just three hits in the contest. The Cardinals also committed two errors in the field.
