Argyle rolls to sweep of Pec

ARGYLE - Junior Jena Saalsaa had 19 kills and two blocks to lead the Argyle volleyball team to a sweep of rival Pecatonica on Tuesday.

Argyle, the two-time defending Six Rivers East Conference champions, rolled to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-20 win over the Vikings.

Argyle senior Ashley Bruehlman had 12 digs, two blocks and five aces.

"They (Argyle) just have a lot of power," Pecatonica coach Jennah Schliem said. "Ashley and Jena are really good hitters. They are hard to defend."

Argyle junior Kirsten Ostby racked up 42 assists, and junior Jadyn Saalsaa added 12 digs.

With the loss, Pecatonica drops to 1-2, 0-1 Six Rivers East.

Pecatonica senior Grace Keast had a team-high seven kills and 16 digs. Senior Ninah McKeon posted six kills. Senior teammate Taetum Pagel had 12 assists and two aces.



Barneveld 3, Juda 1

BARNEVELD - Some serving errors came back to haunt Juda in a four set loss to Barneveld.

The Golden Eagles built some momentum early and pulled out a 25-11, 25-15, 19-25, 25-21 victory over Juda.

"The first two sets were tough for us," Juda coach Scott Anderson said. "We have to serve better. We struggled serving and with serve receive tonight. I was proud of the way we fought back."

Juda senior Erika Duecker had a team-best seven kills. Senior teammate Hailey Kammerer had six kills and six blocks. Senior MacKenzie Byrne notched 17 assists and four aces. Fellow senior Jenna Jordan had a team-high 10 digs.



Black Hawk 3, Monticello 0

SOUTH WAYNE - The Black Hawk volleyball team opened up the Six Rivers east Conference season with a sweep of Monticello on Tuesday.

Black Hawk sophomore Hannah Butler posted four kills and four blocks to lead the Warriors to a 25-17, 25-18, 25-11 win over the Ponies.

Both Black Hawk senior Hannah Herbst and sophomore Maddy Huschitt had five assists.

Monticello junior Abby Wicker had a team-best 11 kills and three blocks. Junior Alyssen Noriega had a team-high 25 digs, and sophomore Mia Brokopp had 19 assists.
