Argyle outlasts Black Hawk

ARGYLE - The Argyle volleyball is closing in on repeating as Six Rivers East Conference champions.

The Orioles took another step in that direction with a four-set win over Black Hawk Tuesday. Argyle junior Ashley Bruehlman had a team-high 20 kills and six aces to lead the Orioles to a 25-19, 25-22, 24-26, 25-17 win over the Warriors.

"Black Hawk is a tough team," Argyle coach Jen Butler said. "They have some good servers and hitters. We weren't as consistent as I would like to see. We were able to come out on top in the end."

Argyle (11-7, 9-0 Six Rivers East) can lock up a second straight conference title with a victory over Juda on the road Thursday. Argyle sophomore Jena Saalsaa had 14 kills and two blocks. Senior teammate Kayla Butler-Paulson racked up 40 assists. Sophomore Jadyn Saalsaa posted 17 digs and senior Sam Mick added two blocks.

Black Hawk senior Sammy Lovelace delivered 14 kills. Junior teammate Hannah Herbst had 17 assists and two aces. Senior Jordyn Delzer and sophomore Sydney Delzer each notched two blocks.



Beloit Turner 3, Brodhead 1

BRODHEAD - After winning the first set, the Brodhead volleyball team couldn't maintain the momentum and Beloit Turner stormed back to knock off the Cardinals in four sets on Tuesday.

Brodhead sophomore Abbey Johnson had a team-high 13 kills, 18 assists and eight digs in the Cardinals' 25-21, 23-25, 18-25, 15-25 loss to the Trojans. Junior teammate Chandra Clark posted 10 kills and 12 assists. Brodhead's Brooke Malcook, McKenna Bump and Johnson each notched two aces.

With the loss, Brodhead drops to 5-3 Rock Valley South.

"We are raw," Brodhead coach Erin Kammerer said. "We are a young team. We have been working hard to get better and I think we have. We had some growing pains tonight. We just had too many players and areas that struggled."



Darlington 3, Fennimore 0

DARLINGTON - Junior Kennedy Rankin had 10 kills and six blocks to power the Redbirds to a sweep of Fennimore Tuesday.

Rankin led Darlington to a 25-19, 25-16, 25-14 win over Fennimore. Senior teammate Taryn Rankin had eight kills and a team-best five aces. Senior teammate Callie Norton dished out 10 assists and had four aces.

"I was a little nervous about whether we would come out flat after last night," Darlington coach Jen Schwartz said of the Redbirds' win over Cuba City Monday. "We started out kind of slow. We picked it up in the second and third games and ran our offense a little bit better. We seem to be pulling together at the right time."

With the win, Darlington improves to 13-4, 6-3 SWAL.



Wisconsin Heights 3, New Glarus 0

NEW GLARUS - Wisconsin Heights senior Mackenzie Doherty had 10 kills to help the Vanguards sweep New Glarus in a Capitol South Conference match.

The Vanguards topped the Glarner Knights in three sets 25-14, 25-12, 25-19. With the loss, New Glarus drops to 3-23, 0-8 Capitol South.

New Glarus junior Willow Lee had a team-high six kills. Senior teammate Olivia Woodmansee had a team-best eight assists and junior Riley Parker added seven assists. Senior teammate Madison Perkins had a team-best nine digs.



Monticello 3, Albany 0

ALBANY - Monticello sophomore Hannah Zanow and senior Brie Graber combined for 17 kills to lead the Ponies to a sweep of Albany on Tuesday.

Zanow had a team-best nine kills to help Monticello roll to a 25-17, 26-24, 25-18 win over Albany. Graber added eight kills for the Ponies. Monticello senior Jessie Garrison racked up 24 assists. With the win, Monticello improves to 5-4 Six Rivers East.

Albany senior Sayde McDermott had a team-high nine kills to lead the Comets. Senior teammate Taylor Seffrood posted eight assists and Haily Frietag had two blocks. Both Cassie Huffman and Kelsey Hoesly posted nine digs.

With the loss, Albany drops to 0-21-1, 0-10 Six Rivers East.
