Royal W. "Barney" Karlen Jr., age 78, a lifelong resident of Monticello, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the New Glarus Home. Barney was born January 13, 1934 in Monroe, the son of Royal W. Karlen Sr. and Emma Elizabeth Rowan. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1952.
