Monticello man, 24, charged after crash

MONROE - A Monticello man remains free on a $3,000 signature bond after making his initial appearance for charges relating to a vehicle crash that took place at about 2:15 a.m. Monday on County E at St. John Road in Decatur township.Tyler J. Meyer, 24, was arrested for fourth-offense drunken driving, felony fleeing police, resisting arrest, driving after suspension, driving a vehicle with a suspended registration, failure to maintain control of a vehicle, driving left of center, a Dane County warrant for failure to appear on a third-offense drunken driving charge and speeding.He faces more than three years in prison and more than $10,000 in fines, if convicted.His preliminary hearing is March 30.Deputies report Meyer was driving erratically when police tried to stop his vehicle. He tried to evade officers, lost control of his truck and hit an embankment. The truck's frame was damaged.
