Melvin H. Best, age 60 of Monticello, died on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the University Hospital in Madison. He was born on June 8, 1949, in Stoughton, the son of Alvin and Susanna (Rhyner) Best. He was a 1967 graduate of Albany High School. Melvin farmed in the area, worked for Monroe Cheese, and most recently worked at Alpine Slicing. Melvin enjoyed and was very talented working with electronics and computers.

He is survived by his father, Alvin Best of Monroe; sister, Patricia (Robert) Hort of Monticello; niece, Brenda (Jai) Bhatia of Friendswood, Texas; also many cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Susanna; also several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. David Busker, with burial in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Albany. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
