Margaret J. Banks
Margaret J. Banks, age 95, of Monroe, died on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on April 21, 1922 in Macomb, IL; the daughter of George and Nellie (Imes) Banks.

Margaret was a graduate of Western Academy High School in Macomb and Western Illinois University. She later obtained Masters Degrees in Literature and Library Science.

Margaret taught English in Duluth, MN High School for 7 years in the late 40's; in the early 1950's she worked as a public Librarian in Kansas City, MO; she also worked as High School Librarian at Evergreen Park, IL; from 1953 thru 1992. She resided in Chicago from 1953 - 2011; and later moved to Monroe in 2012, where she resided to be near her niece, Vicki Scheel of Monticello, WI.

Margaret was a generous contributor to charities, in particular, Native American Arts, World Wide Child Welfare and several Animal Welfare Agencies.

She is survived by her brother, William C. Banks, Colorado Springs, CO., her nieces, Vicki Scheel, Margo Hulson Fraser, and her nephews, Michael Banks, Kent Banks, and Terrill Hulson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Patricia Banks Hulson, and her friend and companion of many years, Barbara J. Duree.

Per Margaret's wishes, a family memorial service will be held at a later date in Illinois.
