Driver uninjured when semi crashes

TOWN OF NEW DIGGINGS - The driver of a semitrailer was uninjured following an accident that demolished the vehicle when it struck a rock wall early Thursday on Wisconsin 11.According to Lafayette County Sheriff Scott Pedley, the driver, Joel D. Sally, 45, Rockford, Ill., was westbound when he reportedly swerved to avoid a deer on the roadway and was unable to regain control of the unit. The 2004 International semitrailer collided with a guard rail and then struck a rock wall along the north side of the state highway, just west of County I in Lead Mine.The Lafayette County Sheriff's office was notified of the crash at about 3:45 a.m. Thursday. Deputies, Benton Fire Department personnel and Benton First Responders were dispatched to the scene.The tractor portion of the vehicle was demolished, deputies reported.
