Don M. Stoor, age 55, passed away surrounded by his children on Friday, December 4, 2009 after a 9-month battle with cancer.

Don was born on January 8, 1954 to Woodrow and Ann (Manfron) Stoor in Crystal Falls, MI. On June 7, 1975, he married Susan Beck.

Don graduated from Forest Park High School in 1972. He then received an AAS in Nursing from Michigan Tech in 1976, a BS in Business Administration from Michigan Tech in 1980, and an MA in Hospital Administration from the University of Iowa in 1982. He worked at Pleasant View Nursing Home since 1983, most of those years as Administrator. Throughout his career, he was an active member of the Wisconsin Association of County Homes.

Besides spending time with his family, Don loved to play the guitar, sing and listen to music. He was also a member of Union Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his two daughters, Kristin (Bill) Wick of Brooklyn, WI and Kylee (Aaron Wright) Stoor of Madison, WI; one son, Ryan Stoor of Brooklyn, WI; one grandson, Wilson Wick of Brooklyn, WI; his mother, Ann Stoor of Crystal Falls, MI; two brothers, James (Susan) Stoor of Surprise, AZ, and Larry (Mary Kay) Stoor, of Westmont, IL; two sisters, Susan (Michael) Schiavo of Crystal Falls, MI and Jody (Tom) McCormick of Wausau, WI; and many other relatives including in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Stoor.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Union Presbyterian Church, Monroe, with Marilyn Sandin-Ross and Scott Marrese-Wheeler officiating. A visitation will be held before the service from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. A family memorial service will be held in Crystal Falls, MI in the spring. A memorial fund is being established in his name. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorial condolences may be sent to:
