- James Allen Melton, 48, Brodhead, pleaded no contest Thursday, Aug. 30, to misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree sexual assault, knowingly violating a domestic abuse order and disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to two years of probation and fined $729. Felony charges of child enticement, false imprisonment and bail jumping were dismissed against Melton. Court records indicate Melton touched the breasts of a 17-year-old girl on at least two occasions within the past year and was verbally abusive with her during an incident March 23 in the 1200 block of West 2nd Avenue in Brodhead. He is also convicted of knowingly violating a domestic abuse order by carrying a .22 caliber rifle in July at Clarence Bridge Park, N2320 Mount Hope Road, Town of Spring Grove.


- Dana D. Milbrandt, 31, Albany, was granted a one-year stay of proceedings Tuesday, Aug. 28, on two dismissed Class B misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct stemming from an incident Jan. 17. She is ordered to continue parenting classes, follow through with any recommended alcohol, drug or mental health counseling and attend monitoring conferences. Court records indicate Milbrandt caused a disturbance at a residence in the N6500 block of English Settlement Road in Albany by loudly and abusively arguing with her boyfriend and then with the deputy dispatched to the scene.

- Kyle Richard Johnson, 25, Janesville, pleaded no contest Friday, Aug. 31, to a forfeiture charge of malicious destruction of property and to two charges of driving while intoxicated. He was sentenced to five days in jail, had his driver's license revoked and was ordered to undergo an assessment for alcohol abuse. He owes the court $2,984. Johnson was arrested for the first DWI in September 2010 and the second in February. Court records further indicate that in May, Johnson was found passed out on a couch outside a home in the 500 block of East 4th Avenue in Brodhead without the homeowner's consent, then was uncooperative with officers and broke a fan vent at the police station. Police reports indicate he had a blood-alcohol concentration of .22 percent.

- Adam William Tracy, 21, Brodhead, pleaded no contest Friday, Aug. 31, to a Class A misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property and was assessed $615 in fines and costs. Court records indicate Tracy damaged the door and door frame to his girlfriend's apartment in the 400 block of 2nd Street during an argument in April.

- Kyle E. Bearden, 21, New Glarus, was granted a 15-month deferred prosecution Friday, Aug., 31, on a Class A misdemeanor charge of battery. Conditions of the deferred prosecution agreement include anger management counseling, monitoring conferences and payment of a $263 fine. A bench warrant was issued for Bearden as he did not appear in court for his sentencing. Court records indicate he punched the face of his girlfriend, then violently stuffed his hand in her mouth, during a dispute in April in the 200 block of 2nd Street in New Glarus.

- Emily Kellett Bystry, 31, Monroe, pleaded guilty Friday, Aug. 31, to a Class A misdemeanor charge of writing a worthless check in the amount of $178.40 to Monroe Beverage Mart, W5294 County KK, in September 2010. She was granted a one-year deferred prosecution, with the conditions that she pay the court $276.96, attend monitoring conferences and complete a financial counseling program.
