Green CountyFelonies• The court Thursday sentenced Coty D. D. Sweet, 21, Monroe, to three years probation after he pleaded no contest to strangulation and suffocation.He faced up to six years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class H felony.The court dismissed two counts of battery, both class A misdemeanors. He originally faced more than seven years in prison and up to $30,000 in fines.Court records indicate he grabbed a woman by the throat and choked her Jan. 5 at a Monroe residence.In a second case, the court Thursday sentenced Sweet to one year in jail with work release privileges, and 40 days credit, after he pleaded no contest to battery.He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class A misdemeanor.Court records indicate he hit a woman in the head and grabbed her throat Jan. 29 in Monroe.• The court Thursday scheduled an April 27 district attorney conference for Dustin J. Olson, 20, Monroe, who pleaded not guilty to substantial battery, intimidating a witness and disorderly conduct.Court records allege he threw a can of energy drink at a man who was going to give police information about a fight Feb. 21 at a Monroe business. The can cut the man's chin.He was convicted of theft, criminal damage to property and bail jumping in 2007.He was charged with substantial battery, a class I felony; intimidation of a witness, a class G felony; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor all as a repeat offender.
