Groom, 32, Monroe, who is charged with strangulation, false imprisonment, battery, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.Court records indicate he choked a woman, tried to prevent her from leaving the residence and broke her phone Jan. 19 in Monroe.He is charged with false imprisonment, and strangulation and suffocation, both class H felonies; battery and criminal damage to property, both class A misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He faces more than 13 years in prison and up to $41,000 in fines, if convicted.He remains free on a $2,500 signature bond. • The court Thursday sentenced Shannon J. Woollums, 39, Brodhead, to one year in jail with work release privileges after he pleaded no contest to drunken driving, fifth- or sixth-offense, and disorderly conduct.
