GREEN COUNTY Felonies• The court Jan. 13 set a Feb. 18 arraignment for Joseph W. Murphy, 44, Peostra, Iowa, who waived a preliminary hearing.Murphy is charged with fraud against a financial institution under $10,000 , as a party to a crime, a class H felony. He faces 6 years in prison and $10,000 in fines , if convicted.Court records allege Murphy, on or about, Sept. 15, 2010, in the City of Monroe, obtained $6,700 in cash from a bank by having another person deposit a worthless check drawn on the account of a third person.He is free on a $1,000 signature bond.• The court Jan. 14 found Dwayne Hosp, 47, Evansville, guilty of theft of less than $2,500 in a business setting, a Class A misdemeanor, and of violating regulations of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, an unclassified misdemeanor.He was sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to pay restitution and court costs totaling about $9,100.Court records indicate Hosp, on or about Dec. 26, 2007, in the Town of Decatur, entered into a home improvement contract with a person and received $2,500 in advance but failed to use the money for the job and failed to provide a written contract as required by state regulations. He faced up to 1 year and 9 months in jail and $15,000 in fines.
