Green County Felonies• The court Thursday scheduled a June 1 district attorney conference for Major C. Rood, 30, Monroe, who pleaded not guilty to strangulation, battery and disorderly conduct.Court records allege he grabbed a woman by the throat until she had difficulty breathing and felt light-headed Feb. 15 in a Monroe residence. Records allege he pulled the woman's hair and hit her in the back of the head Feb. 21 in a Monroe residence.He is charged with strangulation and suffocation, a class H felony; battery, a class A misdemeanor; and two counts of disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He faces more than seven years in prison and up to $22,000 in fines, if convicted.He remains free on a $2,500 signature bond.
