Virginia “Ginny” Zettle, age 94, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on November 17, 1928 the daughter of Oliver and Flavia (Phillips) Zettle. She was a graduate of Orangeville High School. Virginia was united in marriage to Delmar Zettle on December 22, 1951 at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Orangeville, IL by Rev. F.L. Ricklaff.
Ginny worked at Microswitch and later farmed side by side with her husband, until they moved to Monroe in 1995. She also worked in the deli at Piggly Wiggly for several years. She was a longtime member of Zion United Methodist Church in Juda and the Stateline Square Dancers. Ginny enjoyed embroidery, doing puzzles, and reading to her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for “Aunt Ginny’s Strawberry Pie.”
Ginny is survived by her two sons, Brian (Kim) Zettle of Juda and Bradley (Lisa) Zettle of Monroe; and four grandchildren, Tess and Bryce Zettle, Bailey (Luke) Miller, and Brayden Zettle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delmar; brothers, Ralph Zettle and Delbert Zettle; and sisters, Verla Everson and Charlotte Sveom.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow at Staver’s United Methodist Cemetery.
