Thomas E. “Tom” Saalsaa, age 42 of Darlington, WI, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on August 4, 1976 in Monroe, WI the son of Roger Elden Saalsaa and Gayle Rae (Schild) Saalsaa. Tom graduated from Argyle High School in 1994 and then attended both UW Whitewater and Culver-Stockton college in Canton, Missouri. Tom was united in marriage to Brittany E. Summers on December 31, 2011 at the East Wiota Lutheran Church. After college Tom worked for Lycon Ready Mix Concrete and Building Materials Company and then worked for Dawes Rigging and Crane Rental in Wisconsin. Tom and Brittany moved to Chicago where Tom worked for Mortenson Construction later buying a house in Bolingbrook, IL where their family expanded in love and affection. In February of 2016 Tom and his family purchased their forever home in Darlington to be closer to family and friends. Once relocating back in Wisconsin Tom started working at Sunbelt Rentals as a territorial salesman. 

Tom is survived by his wife Brittany and two children Deante and Zander at home; his parents: Roger and Gayle Saalsaa of Madison, WI; five siblings: Raynold (Valerie) Saalsaa of Argyle, WI, Julie (Curt) Moran of Portage, WI, Renee (Greg) Boyce Windsor, WI, Curt (Jill) Saalsaa of Argyle, WI, and Harlan (Fiancé Lonnie Strait) Saalsaa of Madison, WI; nieces and nephews: Taylor, Carson, Rachel, and Hannah Saalsaa, Amanda (Kyle) Minks, Kelsee and Jadyn Saalsaa, and Thea, Sophie, and Millie Kammerud; Great nieces and nephews: Raelyn Saalsaa, Avery and Maxwell Minks; In- Laws: Frank and Melody Loeffeholz of Monroe, WI; sister-in-law: Hailee (Ryan) Kammerud of Darlington, WI. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Myrto and Genevieve Saalsaa; and maternal grandparents: Alfred and Vada Schild.

Tom was a member and served on the church council at Joyful Spirit Lutheran Church in Bolingbrook, IL. He also coached youth sports in football and baseball. Tom enjoyed deer hunting, Wisconsin sports, playing golf and riding his Harley with his wife. Tom loved cooking for his family, his specialties were chili soup and stuffed manicotti. Tom was a gracious host and was known to strike up a conversation with anyone at any time. Tom will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew him.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel United Church of Christ (339 East Louisa Street, Darlington) with Rev. Barbara Brakey officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Immanuel United Church of Christ and on Friday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 at the church.
