Sonja Lou K. Wire, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at her home in Argyle, WI on May 15, 2023. She was born March 5, 1936, in Monroe, WI the daughter of Alfred and Ilo (Camron) Gutzmer. Sonja Lou grew up in Rural Woodford, WI and attended Mills Country School until the 8th grade. She continued her education at South Wayne High School, graduating in 1955. On May 3, 1959, Sonja Lou married her best friend and the love of her life, Allan Wire, at Woodford Methodist Church in Woodford, WI. Together, they began their life's journey, farming in rural Argyle for 10 years before moving to the town where they have resided ever since.

Throughout the years, Sonja Lou worked at Advanced Transformer, wrapped limburger Cheese for Chalet Cheese Coop, provided home healthcare, and watched children from the community of Argyle. She was an active member of Peace Church in Christ in Browntown, WI, as well as the Argyle Women's Club, Argyle American Legion Auxiliary, and a proud blood donor. Sonja Lou's interests included embroidery, baking, gardening, canning vegetables, cutting firewood with her husband, and completing word searches.

Above all, Sonja Lou cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be remembered forever. She is survived by her husband Allan at home; her children, Betty Lou Parkinson of Monroe, WI, John Alfred Wire of Argyle, Lynn Marie Black of Mesa, AZ, and William Keith (Dawn) Wire of Belleville, WI; her grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) DeHaven, Joshua Parkinson, Tara Leopold, Ashley Wire, Emma Grace Wire, Nathaniel (Tessa) Black, Bradley Michael (fiancée: Myra) Wire, and Bronson Henry Wire; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Hugh of the Philippines; one brother-in-law, Ernest Gebhardt Jr. and many nieces, nephews and extended family . She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Beverly Gebhardt and Betty Lou’s fiancée Douglas Prien.

Sonja Lou's life will be celebrated and remembered by those who knew and loved her. Her gentle spirit, thoughtfulness, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends for generations to come.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Peace Church in Christ in Browntown, WI with Pastor Scott Cernek officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
