Roy P. Blum, age 84, of Monroe, died on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Monroe Hospital following a brief illness. Roy was born on July 5, 1939 in Green County, the son of Louis and Helen (Weiss) Blum. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to Karen A. Kubly on May 7, 1961 at St. John’s United Church of Christ. Roy farmed in Adams Township for 47 years before moving to Sylvester Township in 2008. Following his retirement from farming he worked for Brandt Construction for several years.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Kevin) Berndt; granddaughter, Brooke Berndt, all of Monroe; sisters-in-law, Diana Bonk of Monticello, Colleen Soddy of Browntown; brother-in-law, Kenneth Kubly of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen, on November 5, 2020; two sons, Randy and Ronny; two sisters, Emaline Schneider and Dorothy Schmid; and four brothers, Bill, Alvin, Frederich “Fritz”, and LaVerne “Pint”.
Private graveside services will be on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
