Lillian R. Slocum, age 89 passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Monroe Hospice Home.  She was born the daughter of Oscar and Mary (Nyborg) Larson on November 16,1932 in Argyle.  She graduated from Argyle High School.  Lillian married George DeNure in 1949; he preceded her in death in 1991.  She later married Robert Slocum on March 27, 2004 in Monroe.  

Lillian farmed with her husband George, after his death she moved to Monroe, where she worked at the original Kwik Trip, prior to it’s opening.  She was a member of Cornerstone Church and the Women’s Guild.  She was a founding member of the Green County Genealogical Society. Lillian enjoyed traveling, she traveled to Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and New Jersey to meet Bob’s family, and in Virginia where she met her 90-year-old mother-in-law.   

Lillian is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Barb Hefty of Madison; daughter-in-law, Ruth DeNure of Monroe; grandchildren: Jodi (Mark) Schmidt, Trisha (Bob) O’Brien, Nicole (Greg) Wyss, and Jeff Hefty; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; step-daughter, Elizabeth Henning of Sycamore, IL; step-son, Mark (Paula) Slocum of St. Michaels, MN.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George DeNure; son, Gerald; brother, Vernon; and sisters, Marian McDaniel and Gladys Huber.

A funeral service will be held at Cornerstone Church in Argyle on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Richard Sliper officiating.  Burial will take place at East Wiota Cemetery.  

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe.  Continued visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: Shriner111.com
