Jana Lea (Sowl) Miller, 81, of Monroe, Wisconsin, passed away on April 3, 2024. She was born in Rockford, Illinois on August 14th 1942 to Warren L. and Ethel J. (McCartney) Sowl. Jana graduated in 1960 from Rockford West High School where she met the love of her life, Larry Miller. They united in marriage on October 5th 1962 in Rockford and had four children that meant the world to them. Jana is survived by, Scott (Sarah) Miller of Brodhead and their children, Samantha and Seth; Stacey Miller of Scottsdale AZ and her daughters, Erika (Warren) Murrel, Lindsay Roybal; Shawn (Julie) Miller of Juda and their daughters Kiara, Kerstin and Kylie; Shad Miller of Juda and his son Tyler. Along with several great grandchildren and more on the way. She is further survived by her sister, Julie (Gary) Bower of Iowa City, Iowa; her brother Jeff Sowl of Rockford, Illinois; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Jana enjoyed working several jobs throughout her life, most notable were being a farm wife/dairy farmer and working for the Monroe School District. Jana was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, devoting her time and energy to the quilting club. Jana was known for spending hours behind a sewing machine and her love of reading books. She also enjoyed traveling, baking, gardening and making her homemade relish. Jana was preceded in death by her husband Larry; her parents; and her brother Jackie Sowl. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws, Milton and Eleanor Miller; and her sister in law, Janice (Ray) Carlson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the church. Visitation will be at the church on April 12, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Jana’s name to Grace Lutheran Quilting and Helping Hands Groups. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
