Helen Wheeler, age 95, of Monroe, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Monroe Health Services. She was born on September 18, 1923 in Waukegan, IL; the daughter of Charles and Mary Dzieza. She married Vernon Wheeler on July 1, 1950 in North Chicago at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. They previously lived in Zion, Illinois and later moved to Monroe in 1986.

Helen loved the country life and enjoyed cooking for her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her dog Baxter. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends. Helen was very grateful to her special friends Kim and Billy Fisher of Edgerton and Karen Rothenbach of Monroe.

Helen is survived by her husband, Vernon of 68 years, her 3 children, Gene (Alicia) Wheeler of Gratiot; Pat (Jerry) Newman of Monroe, Jim (Karen) Wheeler of Johnsburg, IL; 6 grandchildren: Brett (Brittney) Newman of Monroe, Jennifer Graunke, Lake Mills, Kristin (Garrett) Newman, Madison, Jamie (Zack) Decker, of Arlington Heights, IL; Alex and Alena Wheeler of Gratiot, 3 great-grandchildren: Landon, Adalynn and Hadleigh Newman of Monroe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 6th, from 9:30 until time of service at the Church.
