Gundula R. Christensen, age 83, of Monroe, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 at her home. She was born on March 25, 1935 in Tessin, Germany, the daughter of Hans and Louise (Wulff) Ruge. Born and raised in Germany, she immigrated to the United States when she was 17. She graduated from Beloit Beauty School.
She first lived in Beloit where she met her husband, Thomas Christensen, they were married on December 1, 1956 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beloit. They later moved to Platteville were their only child Gwen was born. After living in Platteville, they later moved to Louisiana for several years and then moved back to Wisconsin in 1971, settling in Monroe.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, corresponding with friends and family in Germany and adored spending time with her only grandson, Allan.
She is survived by her daughter, Gwen E. Binger, one grandchild, Allan (Paige Barreau) Blood, both of Monroe.
She is predeceased by her parents, Hans and Louise Ruge, husband, Thomas and brother, Dr. Bernd Ruge.
A celebration of Gundula’s life will be held a later date.
Gundula’s ashes will be taken back to Germany where she will be buried with her parents.
