Grant A. Gilbertson

Grant A. Gilbertson, age 93 of rural Argyle, WI passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at the New Glarus Home in New Glarus, WI. He was born April 2, 1925 in Adams Township in Green County, Wisconsin the son of Oliver and Ingeber (Ulsrud) Gilbertson.

Grant was united in marriage to Darlene S. Doubler on October 20, 1945 in Freeport, IL. He lived and farmed in Winslow, IL and the Argyle area before moving into his parents Cheese Factory on Highway 78 in 1975 when they took over his father’s business, Gilbertson Septic Service until 1991. In 1992, Grant started working for the Village of Argyle in Ground Maintenance. In 1994, he began managing Argyle Recycling Center until his retirement.

Grant is survived by his wife Darlene at home; two sons: Richard (Shirley) Gilbertson of Muskogee, OK and Stephen (Cindy) Gilbertson of Sterling, IL; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister: Helen Sabastian of Riverside, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Mark Gilbertson on July 2, 1979; one granddaughter: Jennifer Gilbertson in infancy; four sisters: Viola Shickles, Leona Blascoe, Orpha Kuster, and Agnes Rowald; and one brother: Irving Gilbertson.

Grant was a member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Argyle. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren creating memories they will all remember forever. Grant will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church (1540 Old Highway 81, Argyle) with Rev. Ron Brubakken officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Grant’s name.
